Hey everyone! Guess what I’ve got to share with you today? It’s been a solid eight years since I last treated myself to a new Filofax, and I’m thrilled to introduce you to my latest purchase: the Filofax A5 Norfolk! 🎉
Why the A5 Norfolk?
For a while, I dabbled with pocket planners. They’re cute and nice, but soon enough, I realized that pocket-sized planners are just too small for my needs. I kept my eyes peeled for a new, larger planner, and finally, I got a fantastic deal on this beauty from Amazon.
Heads up: these can go for over $100 (Now they’re going for over $200!), so snag one if you find a good price! I got it when they seemed to be trying to get rid of their 2024 stock, so it has 2024 inserts and since it was August they were selling it for really cheap! I got mine for about $60 only! But it seems they are all out of the 2024 versions now! You can find all of my favorite A5 planner setup accessories here using my affiliate link: Amazon A5 Planners and Accessories
First Impressions
- Packaging: The sleek, smooth box was nestled inside a white protective box and the Amazon box. Everything was well-protected.
- Initial Thoughts: It’s a leather-dated planner, and on first glance, it’s pretty hefty. The rings are huge at 35 millimeters (1.38 inches)—the biggest I’ve seen. Compared to my current Filofax Osterley in plum, the Norfolk is much thicker.
- Ring Size: My Osterley had smaller rings, which I switched out for rose gold ones. Unfortunately, I ruined the edges in the process. I hope the Norfolk’s larger rings will mean no more switching out!
Norfolk’s Features
- Inserts: The Norfolk comes with the original Filofax inserts, which I wasn’t expecting.
- 2024 and 2025 year at a glance
- To-do lists and dot grid note pages
- 2024 Horizontal week-at-a-glance spreads
- Traditional Filofax paper (though thin, it’s a staple)
- Pockets & Slots:
- Nine credit card slots
- A huge back pocket (a rare find in A5 planners)
- Two pen loops (elastic bands makes it easy to fit any pen size easily!)
- Additional Goodies:
- Six dividers
- Flexible ruler (great for marking today’s page, making lines, or cutting washi tape)
- Top loading envelope at the back
Why I Love It
- Look & Feel: The taupe leather is soft, smooth, and buttery—the epitome of timeless elegance.
- Functionality: It’s got a strap to keep everything secure, ample storage space, and durable enough for daily use.
- Ring Size: The 35mm rings mean I can fit practically everything, including calendar pages and multiple inserts.
Customization
I decided to switch out the Filofax inserts for my Cloth & Paper inserts. Here’s a quick rundown of how it went:
- Cloth & Paper Inserts: These fit much better and turn smoother than the default Filofax ones.
- Reorganizing:
- Important
- Fitness
- Finances
- Projects
- Personal
Conclusion
Honestly, the Norfolk is a game-changer for me. It’s heavier and thicker than my previous planner, but I’m excited about the extra storage and the larger rings. The taupe color needs a bit more care to avoid stains, but it’s worth it for the sleek look and myriad of features.
