When it comes to planning, many people make these common planning mistakes that can lead to frustration and disappointment. I get so many emails about how people want to start planning and getting their life organized but they just can’t stick to their plans and do it! It can be frustrating and discouraging.  In this post, we’ll discuss some of the most common planning mistakes and how to avoid them.

Mistake #1: Being Overly Optimistic With Your Plans for the Day

When it comes to planning our days and weeks, it’s important to be realistic about what we can realistically achieve. If we’re overly optimistic with our plans, we may end up feeling overwhelmed or stressed when things don’t go as planned. This can lead to negative emotions and decreased productivity. If you estimated the time for the task and added it all up you can easily see how many hours you have planned. Instead, try to priotize your tasks so you can get the important things done.

Mistake#2: Scheduling Everything Down to the Minute

When planning your weeks and days, it is important to not schedule everything down to the minute. Instead, make sure to plan your week and days in a way that allows for flexibility. This will allow you to adapt if something unexpected comes up, and you will also be able to enjoy your time more since you won’t be feeling rushed all the time.

I personally like to plan using time blocks and my routines because they allow more time for flexibility and makes my days go by much smoother!

Routines are more sustainable to follow because they aren’t tied to a time. When you schedule tasks but don’t get it done at the time you scheduled it for you can feel like a failure and end up not getting anything done at all. But with routines you can block off a time to do many tasks within a routine and get them done when you feel is right. Routines are much more flexible than planning tasks to a certain time.

In my newly updated course I walk you through exactly how to set up routines for success and time block so you can be sure to always stay on top of things in your life.

Mistake #3: Not Taking Action & Following Through with What You Planned For

Have you ever planned the “perfect plan” and thought to yourself, “tomorrow I will be sooooo productive”, only to wake up the next morning tired and didn’t even get one thing done that you planned for?

Don’t worry, you are not alone!

When you make a plan, it’s important to take action and follow through. If you don’t take action, your plan will become just that- a plan. Plans without action are useless and will only frustrate you and those around you.

I can help you figure out what’s causing you to procrastinate, so that you can better manage your thoughts and emotions around the task. Once we know this, it will be easier to get the task done and keep your promises to yourself.

In the Productive Game Plan I provide tactics and action plans to help you create systems that will make sure your plans come to fruition.
